Rosette Ruffle Wedding Cake

Rosette Ruffle Wedding Cake

I have made this ruffled rosette style wedding cake so many times, I think I could probably do it blind-folded by now. Usually I get tired of certain wedding cake trends but I admit, I have not tired of this beautiful style of ruffle. Originally inspired by the gorgeous ruffled dress designs by Vera Wang, this design has taken off. Brides continue to love the graceful rosettes, delicate ruffles and classic beauty of this design. These ruffles paired with some modern quilting and some silver pearls and you have a recipe for an elegant and classic wedding cake for your big day!

You can learn how to make this pretty ruffle in my upcoming book, releasing in November! Artisan Cake Company’s Visual Guide to Cake Decorating!

Did you use a special tool for the quilting?

Hi Liz!! This cake is indeed so beautiful!

May I know how do you apply the pearls and dragees on the tiers? I decorated a wedding cake last month with similar style too (pearls of different sizes) but I MANUALLY applied them one by one on to the cake which was so time consuming!!! Is there a better way of doing it?

I held the tier in my left hand and had the dragees in a bowl under the cake. I applied a layer of piping gel to the bottom edge of the cake and lifted the pearls to the cake with my right hand and pressed them on, letting the excess fall back into the bowl. Hope that helps!
