Patti with her daughter Raquael (in purple shirt) and her grandchildren
Most of you know my dear friend Patti Fisher but for those of you who don’t, she is like my mother. She is always there for me (and everyone around her) and is always there to help anyone she can with whatever they may need. Patti’s biological daughter is named Raquael and if patti is my mother, that makes Raquael my sister. Raquael is a wonderful woman with four beautiful daughters (Maicee, Celia, Bella and Sophie). She and Her husband recently pulled up roots to move the family to Sunriver so that they can go back to school in hopes that it will lead to better work in this tough economy.
Anyone who has moved and/or gone back to school knows what a tremendous expense it is and how stressful it is. A few weeks after Raquael and her family moved she went to her annual exam and was informed that they had found cancerous cells in her cervix. Since she had just moved, her insurance was about to run out at the end of the month so they rushed to get her to surgery so it could be covered. They had to remove most of her Cervix in hopes of getting all the cancer.
The surgery went well and we hoped for the best. The doctor said they would call back in a few weeks with the “all clear” but would call sooner if there was a problem. Two days later, they call. Not good. They need her to come in again but won’t tell her why on the phone. The cancer was worse than they had thought and now she has to get a hysterectomy. She also needs tests to find out if the Cancer has spread to her Lymph nodes. The hospital in Sunriver is not equipped to perform these tests so she needs to go to another hospital in either Eugene or Portland to get the tests and she needs them ASAP.
Since Raquael has JUST moved and hasn’t even started working again, the family is in dire need of finances during this time. They were able to get Raquael onto the OHP but there will be many many more expenses since she will be unable to work as she struggles to get through her surgeries and treatments. I am praying that if each one of you who reads this can donate even $5, that is just one more $1 than can go towards food for the little girls, rent, travel expenses and of course, medical expenses. You can donate easily by following the paypal link below or you can mail checks to our address. Make Checks payable to:

Patti isn’t the type of person to ask for help or even THINK about asking for money so the very least I can do, is ask for her. I KNOW if I was in a hard position like this, she would do everything in her power to help me. I love Patti and her family very very much and I have been praying non-stop for Raquael’s health. If you can’t donate anything, please say a prayer for her. It will only take a second and I believe in the power of prayer. Thank you all for your kindness and thoughts in advance.
Sincerely,
Liz Marek
