Cake Delivery Box Tutorial

I was recently asked how I pack up my cakes for a long delivery to keep them chilled and how I prepare my cakes for when clients pick them up. Coincidentally, the process is the same for both. It’s not too complicated but really makes a difference, especially in the summer months when the sun likes to creep onto my cakes during delivery or when I have to drive 2 or more hours for a cake delivery.

This is a simple tutorial on how to make a cake delivery box. All you need is a box that is the same size as your cake board (if you’re making an 8″ round cake and it’s on a 10″ cake board then your box needs to be 10″ square) and taller than the size of your finished cake. I purchase my boxes in bulk from ULINE because they have every size imaginable for a good price. I will even re-use boxes a few times unless they are going out the door for a client.

If you can’t get a box that is the same size as your board, then make sure you glue some squares of posterboard foam to the bottom of your box for where the cake board will sit so it does not slide around on the inside of your box.
