This recipe is pretty darn easy and one I have been using for years. I think it was originally used for gelatin flowers but really, its great for so many things! It makes great light-weight wings, fabric, glass, flames the list goes on and on.
Gelatin Sheet Recipe
1 packet knox gelatin (or any kind of unflavored gelatin, not jell-o)
3 Tablespoons water
Food coloring if wanted
Place the water in a small tupperware container. Sprinkle the gelatin over the top of the water in thin layers slowly and let the water absorb into the gelatin. Let that absorb for a few minutes before proceeding.
Warm the gelatin for 15 seconds and then stir. Warm again until the gelatin is fully dissolved. You will notice some white scum on top of the gelatin. Scoop this off with a spoon and discard. If you don’t get rid of it, it will leave some gross streaks in your gelatin.
Add a touch of food color at this point if desired. You can even use luster dusts or disco dust to achieve the results you desire.
You can now paint the gelatin onto a gelatin veining sheet to create your sheets.
