Autumn Wedding Cakes

Autumn Wedding Cakes

Today was a perfectly beautiful autumn day (11-3-10) thanks to El Nino. Balmy winds and sunny skies. Not bad for an early November day. Got me to thinking that brides were very lucky today with the gorgeous weather and all. Made me think of all the pretty autumn cakes that must be getting made right now so I decided to post a few that I found and I know you’ll just “fall” for. Haha, sorry, couldn’t resist :)

I love hand painted wedding cakes. This beauty is brought to you by nevie pie cakes based out of Berkhamsted Hertfordshire. A former textile creator (it really shows) her attention to detail is amazing and whimsical.

This cake is a simple and sweet modern version of an autumn cake. Not sure who exactly made this so if you know, let me know and I will credit them :)

You don’t often see diagonal lines on a wedding cake. Maybe because they can so easily go wrong? Devonhaupt did everything right on this lovely square autumn wedding cake. I absolutely adore the diagonal detail on the ribbon and that monogram is fab!

This cake manages to really convey a fall vibe without the use of any leaves! Well done Cake Madam! I like the topsy turvy too. You don’t see many topsy turvy wedding cakes but this one really works!

This is a cake I made for a wonderful bride who basically gave me a design and said “make this cake”. I loved the design and did my best to do the original justice.

This was another wedding cake I did for a friends wedding. Four tiers of cornelli lace and lots of pretty fall flowers. This is one of my favorites!

With autumn already upon us, most brides have (hopefully) found the perfect autumn themed wedding cake for their big day. Fall is a great time of year to get married because the rates are lower, the weather is beautiful (with a little luck) and there are many ways to have an elegant and beautiful wedding cake without simply covering it in leaves and pumpkins. It’s all about color and texture here. Use your imagination and really revel in this gorgeous time of year!

If you’re going to do leaves, this is the way to do it! Gorgeous colors and really clean work. Reminds me of a stained glass window.

Lots of drama in this chocolate beauty. I really dig the textures on those leaves and the branches are perfect!

This last cake was made by me as well. It was a small two tier wedding cake with an apple theme.

I also made 200 little apples to go on the matching sheet cakes.
