Dooney and Bourke Bag Cake

Dooney and Bourke Bag Cake

My latest cake was created for a good friends surprise bridal shower. She is definitely the fashionable one in the group and I couldn’t have imagined a cake that would be more well suited than a Dooney and Bourke Bag cake! I loved every minute of creating this cake, especially putting on the details.

The “DB’s” where hand painted with food coloring and edible gold dust mixed in with a little alcohol. I thought they were going to take forever but once I got going, the process went pretty fast.

The most challenging part was figuring out how the strap went (all those buckles where confusing!) based off of my photos and I really wanted the strap to stand up but couldn’t really think of how to make that work. A challenge to tackle next time!

Below are the pics I took before I delivered it, I’ll put up some more of the cutting of the cake so you can see the blue and white zebra inside when I get them. What a fun cake, I hope I get to do more like this!

Its all made from fondant, the zipper is just painted with some silver airbrush paint to make it look more real :)
